The Serena Saddle bag is a classic, D-shape saddle bag with a modern twist! Aimed at the confident beginner, this bag pattern will teach you a range of useful bag-making techniques, with plenty of scope to add your own style. This is a detailed sewing pattern which contains 23 pages of step-by-step instructions, along with 65 colour photos, making it perfect for the visual learner.


FEATURES

Padded all around with defined curves, this bag features piping on the flap, a zipped inner pocket, an inner slip pocket, magnetic snap closure, an adjustable and detachable shoulder strap, plus optional clip-on carry handle.

Finished measurements are 10.5” wide, 7” tall, 3” deep (27cm x 18cm x 8cm)

RECOMMENDED FABRICS

The Serena saddle bag works well in a medium weight quilting cotton, linen, canvas, vinyl, cork, laminated or coated cottons. You can choose one main fabric, or a combination of fabrics e.g. linen with a vinyl gusset or all vinyl with a fabric flap (omit the interfacing if working with thicker outer fabrics). SUPPLIES

You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to download this PDF file and a printer to print off 3 pages of pattern pieces at the end of the document. If you are unable to work from a computer screen, I would suggest printing off the instructions in a booklet form and on a faster print option to save on ink and paper.

Exterior: 0.5 yard/45cm cotton

Lining: 0.5 yard/45cm cotton

Interfacings:

- 1 yard/91cm medium woven cotton fusible interfacing
- 0.5” yard (45cm) sew-in foam interlining
- 10” x 10” square (25cm x 25cm) of fusible fleece
- 1” x 12” (2.5cm x 30cm) stiff interfacing for short handle (optional)

Hardware:

- 4 x 1” (25mm) D-rings* (*or 2 D-rings if omitting the flap handle)
- 2 x 1” (25mm) swivel snap hooks
- 1 x 1” (25mm) slider
- 1 x 18mm magnetic snap
- 1 x 7” (18cm) all-purpose nylon zipper or continuous zipper
- 28” of 0.5” (71cm x 2cm) width premade piping
- Fray-check glue
- 8 x size 8mm or 9mm double cap rivets (optional)
