Hop a bus, take a car
Hail a cab and there you are
On Fifth Avenue (old Fifth Avenue)
[...]
Where they stop, window shop, and their hopes are so high
Pricing rings, pretty things that they can′t afford to buy
But they smile, they don't care
Ev′ryone's a millionaire
When you′re strolling on Fifth Avenue

Say hello to the Fifth Avenue belt bag pattern* by Sallie Tomato*! This pattern has been on my to-do list for a while, and I'm really not sure why it took me so long go make! Maybe because I just knew that once I'd made one, I'd want to immediately make a bunch more, all while I sing along to the classic melody!

This versatile and on-trend bag can be worn comfortably crossbody style by extending the wide strap.

Or switch it to your waist by shortening the strap and opening the side release buckle.

The Fifth Avenue bag* is perfect for those moments when you need to keep your hands free and your important items within easy reach. Think walking, cycling, holidays, festivals, craft markets, concerts, the beach! It's lightweight and compact so won't weigh you down.

The curvy zipped top opens wide to a surprisingly spacious interior with a zipped pocket inside to keep smaller items like your keys or cards extra secure.

The Fifth Avenue bag* is the ideal accessory if you sell at markets and need to keep your card reader and phone close by.

Let's talk materials! For the floral bags, I chose a vibrant retro floral water resistant canvas from Country Cow Designs, teamed up with their plain orange water resistant canvas for the lining. All the hardware, webbing and zippers are from their shop as well.

For the other two bags, I chose Japanese Kokka linens, with a cotton interior from my stash, which I matched up with webbings and hardware from Country Cow Designs

With very little fabric and minimal hardware required, you can really have fun this pattern!  It's also domestic machine friendly and a quick bag to sew up. I see many more Fifth Avenue Bags* in my future! So, will you be giving this pattern a go too?

Or if you don't sew, you will find the readymade bag in my Shop
